Fort Flagler

On the Olympic Peninsula, West of Seattle, there are military forts built at the turn of the Twentieth Century to defend the entrance to Puget Sound. At some of the forts, elaborate systems of bunkers and gun batteries were built so huge artillery guns could be fired at any ships attempting to enter the Sound. Now the bunkers sit in decay, and provide a fascinating look into the past. These shots were taken on a blustery, grey day at Fort Flagler.
